Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. I am apprehensive about using an online service, what help or reassurance can you offer?

A1. We are an established supplier and have been trading online since 2004. We operate from our own premises and have an Ebay shop where you can also check our customer feedback. We try to keep our ordering system as simple, hassle-free and secure as possible for our clients. If you have any remaining concerns, you are welcome to contact us for further advice or support. Customers are also welcome to call at our business premises.

Q2. My children's school is not listed, how can you help?

A2. You can buy from our general range of clothing or we would be pleased to discuss the benefits of our service for the school, parents and children directly with your school parents association, head teacher, governors, procurement specialists or similar.

Q3. How do we go about signing up for your service?

A3. We would be pleased to add your school's uniform specification and badge to our stock of available items. You can then use our service as often as you wish.

Q4. Can I approve the design before you start?

A4. Yes, please request this when ordering and we will send you a sample of your badge on fabric to approve and provide examples of our garments. We are seeking a long-term relationship with our clients and wish to ensure that your are delighted with your purchases.

Q5. Are all the Polo Shirts, T Shirts and Fleeces the same?

A5. Most certainly not, it can be very confusing. Actually there are many different designs, materials, fabric blends and weights available, not to mention shapes, colours, sizes etc. As an example, we have more then 30 different styles of Cotton Polo Shirts alone. Please see our online brochure or call to discuss your preferences.

Q6. Can you source or provide garments or other items that are not featured on your web-site?

A6. We would be happy to research your requirements and source items for you. We have many items that are not listed on our web-site including fabrics and interior design materials.

Q7. I would like a better quality garment for my children than the one supplied by the school's current supplier?

A7. Many different qualities are available, high quality garments often do not cost much more than lower value ones. We can often source more than one quality in a particular design to provide greater choice for the customer.

Q8. What are your Postage and Packaging costs, I have been quoted up to £7.95 per order in the UK elsewhere?

A8. Virtualuniformshop.co.uk items are delivered to you FREE of charge. For other items from our ranges, we do not use a standard rate but aim to recover the cost of postage. Many single items go first class for under £3.00. We also deliver free of charge for significant local deliveries and local charities.

Q9. What are your set up fees, I have been quoted up to £50 elsewhere?

A9. We are very happy set up your uniform on our system and to incorporate your own design, logo, text or slogan at no extra cost.

Q10. What are your minimum order numbers, I have been quoted a minimum of 50 garments from some suppliers, do these apply to your items?

A10. No. We are happy to produce single items at no additional charge.

Q11. Do you apply an additional charge for embroidery designs on badges or garments if there are more than 3000 stitches or more than 3 colours?

A11. No. We have no additional charges for logos or colours (within reason!!)

Q12. How can you do it at the price – are your goods out of date or ‘seconds’?

A12. No. All our garments and other items are new, first quality and received direct from the manufacturer or UK brand distributor.

Q13. So, how can you do it at the price?

A13.1. Firstly through our excellent relationships with clothing manufacturers and:

13.2. Because we own and operate our high-end quality digital embroidery equipment, computers, printers, industry leading software etc. and:

13.3. We also do it all ourselves and control the entire process, we do not outsource our stock, digitising, printing or use third party embroidery from the far east! And:

13.4. Most importantly for us, we want you to be so pleased with our service that you keep coming back and recommend us to your family, friends and colleagues. The vast majority of our core business comes from repeat business and word of mouth recommendation, so it pays us to be ultra-competitive and provide the best items and the best service at the best possible price.

13.5. Also, We do not subsidise the price of our items through  postage costs, storage / retention fees, design fees or other hidden costs.

Q14. Looking at our badge, are there any constraints on what can be embroidered on a garment?

A14.1. If there is any doubt about whether it's physically possible to incorporate your design, we will discuss the various options with you and find the best solution for your needs. If we are unsure about the quality of a logo, we can send you a sample to approve.

A14.2 Generally, the better the quality of the artwork provided the greater the success when it is transferred onto the fabric.

A14.3 If artwork can be provided electronically then that’s excellent and is usually the best way – we can import the design and then digitise and enhance it so that our machines can translate the design into stitches. If the design isn’t available electronically we have made many top quality designs from sketches, photocopies and the like. Our aim is always to provide you with complete satisfaction.

Q15. What if I would like an amendment to my current logo?

A15. That’s no problem; just send us the logo as a file attachment let us know what changes have been made. We can send you a sample of your new logo to approve before ordering. We could help with your design too.

Q16. How long will my order take?

A16. If you have a specific deadline in mind, please communicate this to us. Most orders can be completed within a few days on stock items, subject to the usual caveats and contingencies. We don’t have a problem with putting in additional time on rush orders and we have completed a number of same day orders for some regular customers.

Q17. I have been told that my preferred font cannot be used by an industrial embroidery machine is this the case?

A17. We have not had any difficulty with any of the usual word-processor / digitising package fonts to date.

Q18. How do you achieve such fast delivery on customised garments?

A18. We are small enough to care about every order we receive, (but resilient enough to cope) we work on every garment ourselves; we keep good stocks of the most popular items. Also, we are flexible and we don't stick to office hours (!).

Q19. I will need more than one logo on my clothing. How much extra will it cost, I’ve been quoted £5.00 per logo?

A19. If it’s simple we can probably incorporate the cost, please call and discuss.

Q20. What is the best position my badge or logo?

A20. The usual place is the left hand breast area of the garment. Some customers also like to use the back of the sleeves or some types of garment and have matching logos on Caps.

Q21. Can you use a digitised logo I have had done elsewhere?

A21. Yes, provided you own the copyright (we will undertake the work on that basis) and if it’s in an industry standard format such as a .PES .DST .EMB. Jpeg. BMP.GIF etc.

Q22. How many garments of would the industry recommend per member of my club?

A22. Loads!! The usual minimum would one worn, one spare ready to wear and one in the wash. However, it’s not always practical, so for full-time staff 5 would be a better proposition. Clearly if the item is only required occasionally for a single meeting, you may be able to make do with one.
